Step 1: Set the Foundation – Create the Button

Build Time: 2 minutes

1. Open any Notion page where alerts are needed
2. Type /button and select Button
3. Name it “Escalate Issue” (or whatever fits your use case)

Your foundation is now set. Time to add functionality.

Step 2: Add the Automation – Who Gets Notified?

Build Time: 3 minutes

Now, let’s wire up the actions.

Send an in-app notification

• Click “+ Add action”
• Select “Send notification to”
• Choose up to 20 team members
• Customize the message: “🚨 Urgent issue reported: ”

Trigger an email alert

• Click “+ Add action”
• Select “Send mail to”
• Add recipients (e.g., team leads, executives)
• Write a subject & message

Step 3: Add a Confirmation Step

Build Time: 1 minute

A confirmation popup prevents accidental alerts.

🔹 Click “+ Add action” → Show confirmation

🔹 Add message: “Are you sure you want to escalate this issue?”

🔹 Move this action to the top of the list

Now, users must confirm before sending alerts.

Step 4: Enhance with Smart Automation

Build Time: 3 minutes

Upgrade with advanced formulas:

• Use a webhook to trigger external tools (e.g., Zendesk)
• Link to an on-call database to notify the right person automatically
• Create a multi-step approval flow (e.g., Marketing → Legal → Exec Sign-Off)
